Probing the trail ahead with my drone…

This is a place that is called “The Narrows.”  It is located in California’s Mojave Desert.

The trail was a little too rough for me to continue driving along in my Jeep, so I used my DJI Phantom 4 scout ahead for me.

Desert Airstrip…

This is the remnants of an old airstrip, in the El Paso Mountain Range.  The El Paso’s are located in the Mojave Desert.

Local legend had it that famous test-pilot Chuck Yeager used to land here, when he was stationed at Edwards AFB, in order to go hunting.

Today, the old strip is the domain of off-roaders.

Hubsan H-107C…practice makes permanent…

This is a Hubsan H-107C.  It is a very difficult drone to fly, because it has virtually NO automatic stabilization firmware.

Yet, I am VERY good at flying this little machine, because I fly it almost every day in order to keep my skills sharp.  And, at a replacement cost of approximately $45, the H-107C is expendable if a mishap occurs.  Plus, it is fun to fly!
